Providing the highest quality care is our first priority. That includes caring for both the emotional and health needs of residents. The professional nursing staff at Oakwood Terrace are specially trained to address the health and well-being issues of dementia. Our experience and personal commitment are evident in the smiles on the faces of our staff and our residents. To help those suffering from dementia requires truly caring about each individual. It also requires patience and a willingness to give of one’s time. Our staff to resident ratio is 1:8, allowing our staff members the quality time they need to serve our residents and give them the personalized care they deserve.

Our continuing training program includes comprehensive instruction on topics of safety, health care, dementia care, and sensitivity training. All our employees are trained in first aid and CPR. Our full-time Recreational Therapy Director applies the principles of the Montessori-based Dementia Programming© through the Myers Research Institute in programs throughout the week that encourage personal growth and wellness. These activities stimulate productive activity and the application of old skills to new challenges.

Each member of our staff—from housekeeping and dining staff to our nurses and administrator—is here because we enjoy working with seniors who have special needs. We desire to make a difference in their lives. Many of our employees have been with us for years, live in the neighborhood, and have strong ties in Northeast Pennsylvania.
